As shocking as this is, there are people around the world that live with the possibility of death and dismemberment from explosive devices every day. Its one of the sad realities of the world we live in today. Considering the staggering number of injustices done every day in the name of everything from religion and politics to corporate profits, I am surprised things like this aren't more common to be honest. There are a lot of disenfranchised and angry people in the world and bombs aren't that hard to make. The explosive they suspect was used in this incident can be made with just three components that are all available in nature one of them is urine, to make black powder. Although most people buy it instead.

Because it is not possible to deny that different racial groups differ in average ability levels and behavior those of us who point to the differences are sometimes suppressed.

You say the differences between twins raised separately and together weren't significant, and conclude that genetics explains the similarities? What, then, explains the differences?

Even if it can be proved to a high degree of statistical certainty that genetic similarities predict behavior, intelligence, emotional stability, and pretty much anything else not directly related to outward body appearance, so what? Gene diversity within the progeny of a breeding pair would logically be less than among a group of people not directly related within a generation or two, so genetic influences could be stronger. However, when you expand your subject group to an entire race, your statistical ice gets pretty thin.

The table reflects the teachings of a religion, which is not necessarily the same as the beliefs of a genetic group. Modern White Anglo-Saxon Protestants are taught dogma, moral standards, and behavioral codes based on Old and New Testament writings (as interpreted and perverted by cultural and political interests along the way) combined with situational ethics. "Thou shalt not kill" hasn't prevented Caucasian Christians from committing genocide against other groups for millennia. But we're morally superior.

A current poll of Caucasian Americans on the same questions would certainly bring different results, as would answers from Christians and Jews in the countries listed. Some of our beliefs bring cries of disgust, rage, or even pity from Muslims, too.

For DL, racial profiling is a valid and vital tactic for survival, as evidenced by the fact that he always crosses the street to the other sidewalk whenever he sees a black person walking towards him.

One thing that's bothering me is the strangeness of the target. What is possibly gained by bombing the marathon? Was the marathon even the intended target, or was it to provide a distraction for something else, or what?

An attack like to the twin towers is an obvious target because they were huge landmarks, and economically important, with their destruction having symbolic and (obvious) physical, economic repercussions.

Is focusing on the marathon an example of looking too closely, not realizing larger details?

The bombs were packed with ball bearings, to create shrapnel, which seems like an odd choice, why not use nails? Are the ball bearings a clue? Where does one acquire ball bearings? I think you can get them at hardware stores.

I think I also heard that the bombs were made with organic materials, the kind of stuff that isn't easily detected by dogs or mechanical scanners.

Yeah I noticed that too, the explosions weren't giant fireballs like what you expect from sophisticated terrorists. It was a (smallish?) flash with lots of smoke. It wasn't spectacularly huge. I think so many deaths and injuries occurred simply because so many people were nearby.

There's no way you can guarantee 100% safety 100% of the time, and while this attack was terrible, we should be thankful that it wasn't a lot worse.

The Boston Marathon is an iconic event, it is watched by hundreds of thousadns in Boston and millions around the world. This was the first such incident in the US since the attack by a lone bomber at the Atlanta Olympics, 17 years ago.

In Atlanta, there was widespread speculation on what foreign organization was responsible, it turned out to be one guy from North Carolina who was pissed off at the US for allowing abortions and coddling homosexuals.

The timing of the Boston blast(s) seems to be off by a couple of hours, but it probably was intended to be four hours after the start. The average finish time for recreational runners is about 4 hours, the highest number of finishers and their supporters would be at the finish line then.

If you've ever been to a major marathon, you would see that it is pandemonium when the bulk of the runners finish. The entire area is full of well wishers, medical and event volunteers then. Most of the elite runners and foreign runners, would have been through over an hour before.
